Booking: winter/spring 2026
Hi there! I'm Heather, an editor, writer, mom to my three favorite people, and sidekick to a muddle of rescue pets. I love to read, write, laugh, collect too many houseplants, and soak up nature whenever I can. I also love collaborating with authors and small business owners. Why? I'm one of you, and we share the same goal: for your writing to be at its best.
Are you an indie author who's planning to self-publish or submit traditionally, or a small business owner who wants to connect with customers? I'll root for your success and devote the best of my skills, experience, and knowledge to helping you achieve it.
I'll give your project my all because it matters to you and me, and it will matter to your readers.
I have a Certificate in Copyediting from UC San Diego's respected program, an MEd, a BA in Literature, and I'm a member of the Editorial Freelancers Association (EFA).
I have experience since 2017 performing copyedits, line edits, and content edits on fiction, business, and educational texts (using Chicago, AP, and house styles).
I keep a watchful eye on the big picture when I edit, but I specialize in the details, focusing on accuracy, clarity, and consistency while checking grammar, spelling, punctuation, and much more.
My background in literature and literacy education (MEd and BA in Literature) helps me address your writing needs while enhancing your strengths and voice.
My goal is to benefit your current and future writing.
I'm happy to tailor my edit to your preferences, and I can offer you detailed or streamlined feedback.
As your editor, I’m a reader who is trained, thorough, and devoted to helping you bring out the best in your writing.
I'm also a writer, which means I have firsthand experience with writing craft.
I know how challenging it can be to grow an inspired spark into the rough draft of a text and eventually into a polished final copy.
I understand how it feels to be edited, both kindly and not so kindly.
I'll honor your vision, respect your creative efforts, and protect your unique voice (while choosing kindness).
I've been a bookworm for most of my life. I read for pleasure (in various genres).
I read for work (which I'm sure you already knew).
I read to keep myself informed on writing and editing topics.
I read to learn about all kinds of things, like native-plant gardening, crows building nests from anti-bird spikes, and eccentric, wealthy recluses living in NYC.
